We started with a visit to Maisi, my great-aunt (her great-great aunt!) to wish her a happy 95th birthday. Maria was a hit with all of the ladies in the convalescent home. It was really cool to see her bring a smile to the faces of the residents there and very touching to see how excited Maisi was to play with her. As you can see Maria was equally excited to see and play with Maisi.
Later in the day we headed over to my nephew Aidan's house to celebrate his 1st birthday! We can't believe he is already one (which also means Maria's 1st b-day is just around the corner). He just started walking a few days ago, so Maria's got some catching up to do so she can keep up with him!

Here is Aidan all smiles with my sister and bro-in-law, as well as with both sets of his grandparents.
My sister found out that if you bring your child's birth certificate to Albertson's, they will give you a free 8-inch, one-layer cake for his/her first b-day. Here is Aidan with his cake, ready to dig in...
...or so we thought. Apparently Aidan is not a fan of getting his fingers all dirty with cake. Hopefully he'll get the hang of it before his big party this weekend!
Here's a cute shot of Aidan on the piano. If he has even a fraction of the piano playing skills that his mommy and grandpa have, I'm sure he'll be great!
